December 9, 2011
Rod Graff is on extended tour from Qld, he played in the Sorrento Master Singles making it to the last 8 before bombing out to Scotty Edmonds, he is rumoured to be signing up to play for the Mosman Park Mozzies soon.

It is only a rumour at this stage, the word is he can play a bit. If that is so it would be a bonus to the bottom placed side in PL to have a bit more grunt added to their list.

November 2, 2011
Is this a rumour or a fact, we think it is a fact.
We received word that a former Australian and State and Doubleview star could be on the comeback trail. He was reportedly seen after hours at the Osborne Pk Bowls World shop counter in dark glasses and a hat talking to a sales assistant and getting measured up for a new set of strides and new shoes.

The shopper looked a hell of a lot like Robbie Ball, one of the many contacts we have, swearing on oath and stating that it was him.

They have been saying for some years way up at the Valley Bowling Club, the former super star would play for them one of these days, could it be that finally the time has come, and he will saddle up for then this coming season.

So we will put our neck on the line and state Robbie Ball is back and rarin' to go.

FACT
Mosman Pk have lost another player from their list with the departure of Mick McGann who has returned to his former Club Cambridge, this is very good news for the knights who while having had lost several key players since the ned of last season, have since rebuilt their list.
The very experienced Mick McGann will add further to the the Cambridge list, the way things are looking it is all systems go for the upcoming season with a spot in the four beckoning.

RUMOUR
Mosman Pk have lost some goodies from their last years Preliminary final side and as said above Mick McGann has departed. We have heard that Sth Perth player Merv Hughes will play for Mozzies,

Merv Hughes is a quality player particulaly playing in the leader role.
While another rumour that was passed to me is Former Dalkeith and Warnbro player Willy Tan could also become a Mozzie

October 20, 2011
FACT
Some good news for the Cambridge Knights, it was reported earlier in the year that Trystan Smallacombe would be taking a year off from the game to be with family and that is of course more important than any game of bowls.
Circumstances have since changed for Trystan and he will now be able to play this season tho not in all games.
Trystans availabilty puts a different slant on Cambridge's prospects this season and will certainly improve their chances of making the finals.

October 20, 2011
FACT
Other news we find Wanneroo's Darren Turra who played as a 3rd for the most part of last season will not be lining up this coming season. He will be a loss no doubt and only adds to the Wanneroo woes after losing so many players already for the upcoming season . There have been more losses than gains for the Express to start the new season

It will be interesting to see the makeup of the top side because Wanneroo do have two other 1st division sides and maybe they will be able to do the job and keep Wanneroo away from what appears at this stage a likely demotion.

FACT
At the end of last season there was plenty of speculation regarding Yokine Skipper Rick Eddy, would he play in the Mandurah League or would he play with the Doggies.
What direction would his car be travelling in for the upcoming season, Well that question has been finally answered.

The Yokine Doggies have the prize signature of Rick Eddy who was actually the top Doggie skipper last season after he was given the skippers role halfway thru tye season. This is a welcome signing for the Doggies who have lost a few players who left to pursue a game in Premier League .

Rick most definetly brings some much needed experience to the Team and his guidence will be welcomed by the host of young recruits which include Sean Donahoe, Ben Horwood and Dan Butler together with the further development of Matty France and Brian Davis .

Erron Martin and Alan Davis together with Juris Lorencs , Mel Lemos and others also add to the experience of the team which is now taking on a stronger appearance than what was thought a few weeks ago.

Could we see the Doggy's back in the bigtime sooner that we thought was possible?

October 10, 2011
State Senior and Mt Pleasant player Geoff White has switched Clubs, Geoff is returning back to Sth Perth where he played a season with the Millers back in 2008. The Club are in need of a skipper and Geoffery just might be the answer in that area. So far the Millers have Ross Pringle, Scott Walker, Ashley Sharp and now Geoff White.
It will be very interesting to see whether or not Sth Perth can improve on last season, the major loss for them is Frank Carbone, he will be very hard to replace.

October 6, 2011
Mosman Park bowler Dale Marsland had transferred to Stirling earlier this year along with Matt Ellul.
The situation has since changed with Dale who has had a change of heart and decided to return to Mosman who no doubt would be delighted to have him back.

With players losses such as Matt Ellul and Daniel Brown the Mozzies could ill afford to lose players of Dale Marsland's calibre.

FACT
One that came our way during our computer probs was Dalkeith's Luke Richardson has signed up to play with Cambridge this season.
Luke who last played PL with the Dalkeith Silvertails, who were demoted a couple of seasons ago to One White, he will be a very much welcome and needed player for the Cambridge Knights who have suffered heavily in terms of player loss for this coming season
His biggest moment in the game in W.A was his runner up placing in the State Singles to Anthony Provost in 2010.

September 30, 2011
Victoria Park player Blake Heldt has joined the Mosman Park Mozzies for the upcoming season. This represents a good challenge for young Blake who was injured in a car accident recently.
Mosman have had some big losses in the off season with Matt Ellul, Daniel Brown, Dale Marsland, so it will be a timely signature for the Mozzies.

September 30, 2011
FACT
Probably an old rumour but in case those who might not be aware, young Robert Bell who played for Doubleview in the first nine games as a leader lsat season left the PowerHouse at the conclusion of last season to play for the One White side Manning Eagles. He has since had a change of heart and decided against the move to the Eagles and will play for the PowerHouse this season.

FACT
Great Scott!!!!, Another big move in Premier League, Doubleview PL 3rd and recent winner of the Mt Lawley Consistency Singles Scott Edmonds, has signed up to play for the One Blue North Bedford Bulls in the up coming season. His form in State and major events has been eye catching while he received several plaudits from opposition players with many outsatnding PL games last season

It was a surprise move that caught everyone off guard somewhat but no doubt Scott's influence will help the Bulls who struggled in One White last season and were demoted back to where they came from, One Blue North.

Word around he Clubs is there are possibly more players to come to Bedford, so it is interesting to see the Bulls taking an active role to try and rebuild the Club's playing strength which had diminished since 2006/7.
With Cody Packer, Paul Hunter and Cliff Graybrook all accomplished players and this signing could see another Bedford revival and a return to One White

Doubleview take another hit with the loss of Scott Edmonds coming on top of Dennis Kat, Jamie O`Keefe and Matt Mitchell all of whom will not be lining up for the PowerHouse this season.

September 19, 2011
There are plenty of rumours flying around the place but because of confidentialty my hands are tied at the moment.
If some of them come off we will be the first to know. However we do have one that we can let out of the bag, the very much sort after Paul Butler was set to play for the Vic Park Reds after deciding to join up with son Blake but the landscape has changed and he will now not be fronting up to play with the Reds which is a pity because he would have been the link that would win them the Grand final.
So that leaves everyone guessing where he might be playing, he has had several clubs interested in gaining his services and we wait the outcome of these discussions

September 15, 2011
Cambridge have lost another player for the up coming season.

Young Ashley Sharp who broke into the Cambridge 16 last season playing lead/second with Dad Jon has joined the Sth Perth Millers.

With The loss of the Trewhella boys to Warnbro, Trystan Smallacombe who might be playing with Mt Lawley this season and the unfortunate loss of David Opie not being available, the chance to play finals was always going to be that much harder, all players mentioned here would have played in the top 16

All is not lost with Brad Ball and Domenic Milbourne signing up to help balance those losses to a degree
At one stage earlier in the season we did hear that Country Star Brian Calthorpe might be a possiblity for a return to the Knights, however it remains to be seen if that rumour has any legs.

In the meantime Sth Perth have gained two positive recruits prior to Ashley signing on which will help make up for the loss of Frank Carbone and Tiger Lyons. Scott Walker and Ross Pringle will help keep the Millers a competitive side.

With Young Ashley who has plenty of upside and gaining a lot of experience after his first season playing in the PL, could help the Sth Perth Millers to remain competitive and importantly stay out of the relegation zone.

September 13, 2011
A rumour getting around the clubs, Doubleview player Jamie O`Keefe might not saddle up to play pennants this coming season. If this is the case it will further weaken Doubleview's ambitions of winning the Pennant this coming season.
Jamie O`Keefe has been a good fit for Doubleview and the 2009-10 season was one he would never forget when playing as a three with Daniel Trewhella, Charlie Slavich and Peter Ker the side won 16 of the 18 home and away games which is an outstanding feat. In between he won two Doubleview Master Pairs.
Combined with the loss of Dennis Katunarich and Matt Mitchell it will set the Club back somewhat in playing strength.
Not sure if or when Jamie O`Keefe will return to the pennant scene if this rumour is correct.

September 8, 2011
RUMOUR
The drum has been beating for a couple of weeks now that Matty Mitchell has signed up or will sign to play for the Mosman Pk Mozzies this season. Further enquiries show he has not signed up to play a Mosmans at this stage and all talk about this are just simply rumours...
He has left Doubleview and is a Manning player at this point of time, however time will tell if these rumours come to fruition.
One way or the other he will be a handy signature to have on the book at whatever Club he plays at.

September 5, 2011
FACT
Mosman Park Mozzie Daniel Brown has upped stumps and will play for the second division side Armadale Storm this coming season. A huge move in the scheme of things for both Mosman and Armadale.

Browny was sensational last season playing for Mosman Pk, it was perhaps his finest season after being dropped from the State side. He and his rink showed they were made of the right stuff when they powered away and won 10 of their last 11 games to drive the Mozzies into the finals.

Browny is a talent and this loss will not be overcome easily as far as the Mozzies are concerned especally on top of Matt Ellul's move to Stirling.

Meanwhile after promising much at the start of last season the Storm didn't kick up much of a Storm in their quest to win promotion can really start to think about doing so this season.

While they recruited well last season it is a while since they had a quality player such as Daniel Brown in the ranks. No doubt Ken Monkhouse will be elated not only with this signature but the real possibilty of Storming up the grades in the next few seasons

August 30, 2011
FACT
Cambridge Knights have signed up former Mosman Pk player Domenic Milbourne for the coming season. He last played for Pennants the Mosman Pk Mozzies about 2/3 years ago, he played as a 3rd in a successful rink skippered by Brad Ball and at the same time was starting to make an impression in major events.
Work committments in the Country saw him move to Albany, while in albany he played at Middleton Beach.
Could be just the player the Knights are looking for after having lost quite a few good players from last years lineup.
It will be an easy settling in period for Domenic when he rejoins acquaintances with his great friend Brad Ball and also his skipper at Middleton Beach in Albany, Jon Sharp

August 24, 2011
We hear that Mike Trojack is to return to the fray and play for Kardinya this season which is very welcome news for them.
His last stint playing Premier League was as a member of Sth Perth Millers rink led by Matt Ellul, they went thru the season with 14 wins and 4 losses. That season saw Sth Perth make the finals for the first time in many years
If Mike can return to the form he produced that season he will help sharpen up those Kat claws and make them that bit harder to beat.

August 23, 2011
FACT
Kalamunda Tigers lead Ross Pringle has signed on the dotted line and play with Sth Perth this season. The loss of he and former Sth player Scott Walker who returned to Sth Perth earlier in the year will go some way to help the Millers retain a place in the the premier League this coming season.
Meanwhile Kalamunda who have shown they are not quite able to maintain a regular place in the Premier League but have been too strong in One White will find things a little harder without these two players as they prepare to do battle to regain their Premier League status in One White this season

August 21, 2011
FACT
Osborne Park have signed up former Cockburn player Marus Sear for the up coming season.
Marcus who while generally a good player and extra good when he plays at his best could find it hard to break into the top side but will increase the strength of the Osborne Park One White side who won promotion from One Blue Sth Last season

The loss of Marcus Sear will have an impact on Cockburn who lost their One White staus after being relegated to One Blue Sth,

August 15, 2011
FACT
Yokine player Ron Stockton has left the Doggies and returned back to his Club of many years, Osborne Park. It has been quite a journey for Stocky who after leaving OP some 7 seasons ago to play with the Cambridge Knights in PL, then moved on to play a couple of seasons with the Yokine Doggies.
Ron who said he enjoyed his time at both Cambridge and Yokine Clubs but is happy to be back at Osborne Pk.

August 11, 2011
The Doubleview PowerHouse have lost three players from last years 16 and now possibly a 4th.
Those who have departed are Dennis Katunarich who has been an outstanding player over the last 25 years at Doubleview, Matt Mitchell who still has plenty of upside to come has departed for the Manning Eagles One White side and young Robert Bell who was given an opportunity to play nine games as a lead last season has also gone to Manning.

Perhaps another blow to Doubleviews hopes is the news that Aaron Delaporte who has been at Doubleview for more years than I can remember could be working on Saturdays in the future. If this is the case that will further weaken the strength of the 16 to be a force in the PL.
One of his strengths has been his ability to play the lead, second or third positions and do it extremely well, making him the ideal swingman when things need to be changed.
I guess that there are some options to be considered depending on how many Friday or Sunday games Doubleview are fixtured to play that might enable him to be available for selection.
He has shown over a long period of time what an important player he has been for the PowerHouse, if it doesn't work out that he can play it is certainly bad news for Doubleview

August 5, 2011
FACT

It has been confirmed, Wanneroo Express player Marty Hinchcliffe has definitely signed up to come on board to play with the Victoria Pk Reds this coming season.
Marty has a fine record playing as a skip in the Wanneroo second top side but this is not a position he will get if he can crack a game in the PL side.
We have had some good reports about his ability and there is no doubt he knows his way around a Bowling green, if he is as good as those reports indicate the pressure will be on for all players in the front end at VP premier League to keep their spot.

August 3, 2011
Some info that came our way was Wanneroo One Blue player Marty Hinchcliffe will play for Victoria Pk this season. However at this stage it is only a rumour,we cannot confirm if this is true or false.
If Marty does play at Vic Park he would find it hard to break into the top side but would not be without some chance to do.

July 25, 2011
Bassendean have recruited Guilderton Bowler Peter Nicholls who is quite prepared to travel to Bassendean each week play for them this coming season.
Peter, who has plenty of passion for the game has played for Bedford in the past and tho he is a handy player he might find it hard to crack a game in the Lion's top side but is prepared to give it a shot, as they say if you keep knocking on the door with good performances who knows what might happen during the season.

July 20, 2011
There is plenty of speculation down at the Hilton Hawks and Kardinya Kats Clubs concerning Daniel Wood. The word is the high flying Hawk could well become a Kardinya Kat this coming season. He would be a very handy player and there is no doubt the Kats need to add some grunt to the playing list.

Daniel didnt enjoy the best of seasons last year playing for the Hawks with a 7/7/1 aggregate and has been recently rolling up with the Kats which is enough for some to think he will be at the Kats next season. We will wait and see what developes.

Another Hawk rumoured to be on the move is the highly rated Steve Ivory who could also become a Kardinya Kat

July 18, 2011
Warnbro Wizards have added Mike Gittens to their list after he signed with the Club.
Mike played for the Yokine Doggies over the past couple of seasons with distinction. He is a more than handy player who has all the shots in the kitbag and sure to make the Wizards all that much harder to beat.

July 15, 2011
FACT
Another signing last night for Warnbro is Tony Tuckerman ex Rockinham and Manning 1st div player making 5 new recruits for the new year. Although Tony has enjoyed playing at Manning for the past two years living in Rockingham makes for less travel.
There was a time some years Back when Tony was at one stage the leading skipper playing One Blue Sth.
All is looking rosy for the Wizards and what an unenviable job the selectors will have when they sit down to select the side to kick the season off such is the strength they have developed over the off season.

July 14, 2011
Our earlier information is wrong. We were told that Richard DiSousa was signed up in a package deal with Stirling
We have been informed that Mosman Park is the Club that won the race for Richards signature.
How could we get it so wrong!!!!
Well it doesnt change the fact that Richard DiSousa is a very good signature to get on the book and Mosman will be a much stronger Club at the front end

July 14, 2011
The word is around that the Stirling Rangers have also recruited Yokine Doggie Richard DiSousa, apparently it is a package deal with both he and Peter Turpin who are the best of mates. From memory both started at Bedford and then went to Yokine and now to Stirling

Richard is one of the better leaders in the PL and will be a walk up start in the Stirling 16.

July 13, 2011
Sth Perth Millers lose another player, yes the Millers have lost Darren Lyons who has signed to play with the Thornlie Ravens this coming season. Sth Perth have already lost one of the more outstanding PL 3rd's in Frank Carbone who will play for Stirling this season.
On up side Scott Walker has returned to Sth Perth after playing with the Kalamunda Tigers, he will be a handy addition to the side.
Sth Perth were hoping to perhaps win the signature of Yokine's Mike Nilson but Mike has chosen to play with the Osborne Pk Saints this season.

Sth Perth Millers have a policy of not paying players, I am not saying their policy it is right or wrong but the Millers because of that policy will never win a Premier League pennant and will always be on the edge so to say as to whether or not they play in the Premier League division.

It is true that they have played some wonderful games helping to shape the final four in seasons 2009-10 and 2010-11, such as ruining Doubleviews season with a win at Doubleview in the last home and away game in the 2009 - 10 season which cost the PowerHouse the home finals and perhaps the Premiership flag.
Last season the Millers played above and beyond to inflict a huge defeat on the eventual Premiers when beating Osborne Pk in the second last round of season 2010-11. Lets face it OP and DV are seriousy top notch sides and for the Millers to produce wins at that time of the year and each of those wins were away wins with finals just around the corner was indeed a huge accomplishment.

Sadly for the Millers they just couldnt produce those efforts more often and losing players such as Frank Carbone and Darren Lyons just makes it all the harder for them to stay in the PL

July 12, 2011
RUMOUR
Another rumour we have heard is one concerning Yokine Doggie Peter Turpin who is to leave the kennel and play for the Stirling Rangers this coming season. That coming on top of the loss of Mike Nilson to Osborne Park and also there is no surety that skipper Rick Eddy will be lining up for the Doggies either, with his possible move to Mandurah will undoubtably make it harder for the Doggies to regain Premier League status this coming season.

Stirling have a bevy of good front end players if their last game of the season win against Osborne Pk is guide, players to stand out in that game were Mike Radalj, John Ursich and Paul Pasalich, this could make it hard for Peter Turpin to initially break into the line up even tho he is a handy leader.

There is some doubt that Wayne "Springer" Coyle will be coming up from Dunsborough to play another season for the Rangers. This would be a loss if it proves to be the case. "Springer" is a proven good 3rd and a very Club minded person who has given his all in the time he has played at Stirling.

Guess we will have to wait and see whether or not the likeable Springer will stay in surfing territory or make the 255 km journey up to Perth to play for Stirling in 2011-12

July 8, 2011
RUMOUR
The latest rumour getting around the Clubs is one concerning Yokine's Mike Nilson, he will no longer be barking with the Doggies in the coming season. Can't confirm if this rumour is correct, so for now it is only a rumour but as we always say, where there is smoke there is fire.

With at least two confirmed player losses for the Saints this coming season, it is a timely signature to be gaining. Osborne Pk will be keen to keep hanging those premiership flags on the wall and gaining Mike Nilson will help the Saints to continue doing that

The Yokine Doggies who were demoted last season will have some difficulty replacing Mike Nilson who is not only a good player but also a quality person and one the Doggies will miss.
From here on it will be interesting to see how the Yokine Club go in their recruitment for the upcoming season. Yokine are very determined that they will be back playing in the PL but the loss of Mike Nilson will make their job a bit harder to make it back
Last season the Doggies left their recruiting a little late but managed to get some very good players in Rick Eddy and Erron Martin to play for them last season so anything is possible in regard to recruitmentand time will tell who they can get

One of the many hilights of Mike Nilson's carreer was playing the great Steve Glasson in the Sorrento Master Singles in 2010 and putting in a terrific performance and losing ever so narrowly

July 5, 2011
A rumour getting around concerns two Wagin skippers who played in the Metro versus the Country allstars earlier this year, they being Johno Davidson and Warren Holt, both are looking likely to be playing for One White Club Manning this year. Warren's dad Fred was a Manning player previously so we have heard.

Could it be true that another Wagin player, Steve Trowl, is set to follow as well. We all know Steve Trowl previoulsy played for Bassendean about 4/5 years ago and is an accomplished player who would not be out of place in a Premier League side.

If this rumour is true, what a boost to Manning to get the services of one of the Country's finest players in Warren Holt, he has ability plus, his presence would surely help to push Manning into the bigtime. John Davidson is no slouch either, they don't hand out skipper roles in the Country V Metro for nothing and he also would add some grunt to the Eagles.
Combine these three players and add Matt Mitchell and suddenly Manning look a much stronger 16 and would be number one favourites in One White to win promotion

I can't at this stage confirm that these moves will happen but that is what is getting around the clubs

June 28, 2011
Last piece of the recruiting puzzle for The Wizards fell into place last night with the signing of the talented Alf Jones joining John & Matt Trewhella and Terry Ball as new recruits.
On arrival from the East Coast Alf played as a three with the Cockburn PL side after one season he then transferred to Kardinya but because of work committments was unable to play with them.

This will give Warnbro a very strong back end and plenty of experience. Hopefully this help keep improving the existing players who have done a tremendous job over the past two years in retaining 1 blue.

Warnro have been threatning to elevate themselves further up the grades since breaking into 1st division, this will be the strongest side the Wizards have assembled since breaking into first division and would just about make them favourites to win promotion.

June 26, 2011
Thornlie Raven One Blue Sth player, young David Ivers is a Raven no more, has joined the mighty Kardy Kats, must say I never heard of him, he hasn't shown up in any major events. However a closer look at last seasons pennant results show he might have something to offer the Kats.
David played as a third in the first half of the season for Rick Gilbert, no standout results in that rink, more losses than wins.
He then he played 3rd for Glyn Vaughan in the Thornlie Ravens top side last season. The side did well to lose only two games in the second half of the season.

June 22, 2011
FACT

Hilton Hawk Daniel Slade will not be flying with the Hawks this coming season. We have recieved word that Daniel has flown the coup so to say to become a Kardy Kat.

Not sure what position he will play for the Kats, if he can produce his best form and he will need to do that to compete in the tough PL. then he will be a good recruit to gain.
Having played against Daniel it is clear he has the ability, no doubt it is a challenge he will look forward to playing in the PL.

What of the One White division Hilton? A Club loaded with talent that produced a middle of the road performance last season, They were not as cohesive as they could have been last season with a couple of player disruptions which was a pity. If everyone was up and flying in the same direction the Hawks would have done ever so much better. They sure have some committed and talented players in the group, however the departure of Daniel Slade will be a blow to the Hawks

June 17, 2011
One to correct regarding Dave Appleton. We did say Dave was going to play in Mandurah this season. Not so, with Saturday work commitments and a young family the Big Apple wil be taking a complete year off from pennants.

June 17, 2011
RUMOUR
Kardinya Kats did a great job to win promotion to Premier League. it will be their first ever appearance in the PL in the history of the Club.
We might remember about 4-5 years ago they were relegated from One White along with Bassendean in the first season of which the bottom four being relegated. The Club made wonderful progress from One Blue after a good recruiting campaign.
The mighty Kats won promotion to the Premier League this season with three of their best players unavailable, Terry Ball. Alf Jones and Brad Ball. This season none of those players will be lining up for the Club having departed to other Clubs.

While acknowledging that the Kats have done a terrific job to get where they have, they will need to recruit a couple of good players if they are to succeed in the tough PL.
One rumour getting around is Luke Richardson could be a possibility to play for the Kats. I must emphasise that it is only a rumour and we are not able to verify that it is correct, but if true then Luke could be a handy addition to the Kardinya Kats.
Last season we flagged that Luke was to join Eaton, this was after receiving info from that club only to find that it was absolutely incorrect so we must tread carefully here and say this is only a rumour.

June 14, 2011
FACT
We had flagged back in April that Doubleview player Matt Mitchell could be heading to the Manning Eagles. Well it is official, Matt Mitchell has signed on the dotted line and will play for the Manning Eagles One White division club

Matt has played at Doubleview for the past 4 seasons playing as a lead at first but mainly as a second with occasional stints as a 3rd. In that time Doubleview won a Premiership in the 2008-9 season.
Matt Mitchell also won the Australian Welsh singles qualifying section of the Professional Bowlers Association defeating Australian team member Brett Wilkie to win a trip to play in the U.K where he won his first game then bowed out.

Manning did well to finish 3rd last season but did rely heavily on the rink of John Francisco who had 13 wins and also aided by Phil Gillespie's rink who lost only two games from 9 starts.
Obviously the Eagles need more input from the other rinks.

Manning have top class quality greens to play on, that combined with the recruitment of Matt Mitchell and Wayne Heldt to boost their stocks should add a bit more grunt to the 16 and make them real contenders for the flag.

Not sure what position Manning have in store for either Wayne or Matt but it certainly opens up plenty of options for the Eagles.

Also at one stage we did hear that sometime skipper Greg Fairhead would be moving, he would be a loss for the Eagles.
Apart from that Manning now look well placed to be one of the dominant sides in the One White division

June 9, 2011
FACT
It is official! Terry Ball is a Warnbro Wizard, he signed on the dotted line last night. A terrific recruit to have on the books and will add a great deal of experience to the Wizard 16.
Terry Ball has played many Premier League games ove a long carreer, Doubleview and Bedford are two of the Clubs he played for during that time. Also a member of a winning State Fours title and a recognized high end singles player who often made it to the business end of important singles events.

No doubt it is a big loss for the Kardinya Kats who finally achieved their ambition to to play their maiden season in Premier League this coming season. The loss of Terry Ball (he didn't play last season) and Brad Ball who will play for Cambridge also who didnt play many games for the Kats last season is a blow for the Club as they prepare for the up coming season
No word on Alf Jones, a Kardinya Kat and also a player of quality (another to have not played last season for the Kats) who would also be a huge recruit for the Wizards.
All is looking good for the One Blue Sth Warnbro Club as they prepare for season 2011-12

June 8, 2011
RUMOUR
Stirling continue to dominate talk in the Bowling world, it is only a rumour mind you but we have heard that former Sth Perth player Frank Carbone could become a Ranger, [but we had also heard earlier that he could become an Eagle (Manning) ].

If that is the case that he signs for Stirling then what a recruit to have join the Club, Frank has established himself as one of the very best drawshot 3rd's in the Premier League.
The Sth Perth Millers will feel the loss of this talented player but certainly the Rangers will be on the up when you combine this recruiting move with that of Matt Ellul and Dale Marsland.
Frank Carbone was a member of Matt Elluls' rink when they ended the season as the second best performed rink in the Premier League in 2009-9 season. Also that season saw Sth Perth make the finals for the first time in many many years.

If this rumour is correct we can say confidently that with the Rangers gaining a player and a gentelman such as Frank Carbone they are heading in the right direction for a big season.

June 7, 2011
The big move of the season so far has been that of Matt Ellul who has transferred from the Mosman Mozzies to join the Stirling Rangers.

However we find that breaking up is hard to do, close friend Dale Marsland has also joined the Rangers keeping the best of mates together.
This is a windfall for Stirling to have the dynamic duo in the same team. We could expect Stirling will be a new power in the premier League

June 3, 2011
Well we thought the speculation about Gary Carberry had well and truly ended when Dave Farley informed us that the good Carbs would be part of the Kwinana Klippers lineup for 2011-12. We all know what a great player Gary is, no doubt he played a big hand in the Klippers promotion from second div and what an asset he would have been to the emerging Klippers in their first stint in One Blue Sth this season.

Bad news for all unfortunetly

Gary Carberry has accepted a job in Ballarat, Victoria. If anyone knows any good clubs in Ballarat, please let him know (0488441876). Gary is due to leave W.A in approx 3 to 4 weeks.
We certainly wish Gary Carberry who has been a super good player over the years all the best in his job in Victoria and hope we will see him back in WA sometime in the future.

Kalamunda Tigers are in the news, former Gingin player and recent Wanneroo player David Von Horn will join or has joined the club.

The likeable David should be a very hand player and will be an asset to the Tigers.
In 2010 he played in the semi-final of the State Triples losing to the eventual winners by two shots to give an indication of his ability

Travel was the issue that forced him to switch Clubs and Kalamunda will be happy to have a gentleman and good player in their ranks

RUMOUR
After a very promising start Warnbro Wizards did well to dig in and hold their place in One Blue Sth last season.

Word we have heard is Kardinya Kat Terry Ball who didn't play last season could be a Wizard this coming season. He has a heap of experience and a proven skipper which could be invaluable for the Wizards as they continue to push hard for promotion .

Another possible recruit is Alf Jones, another Kardy Kat who also missed last season could line up in a Wizard shirt. No doubting he is a top liner and would be a valuable addition to the side

On top of these possible recruits we have already flagged John and Matt Trewhella will return to Warnbro.

It would seem Warnbro will be an exciting club to play for next season if what we have heard is on the money

The Saints look like losing three players, Dave Appleton will play in Mandurah this coming season. A real loss for the Saints to see one of their Premiership stars (and boy oh boy he sure played a belter in the final) not playing this coming season.
Dave really settled in playing second for Gary Caffell this season and played a wonderful game thru the season displaying he can play all the shots no matter what the pressure.

Another we hear is Bob Couper will not becoming down fron Dowerin this year. He also is a big loss playing lead, never beaten and and sure to be hard to replace. He can certainly be proud of his time at Osborne Park which resulted in two Premierships

We are already aware that Paul Butler has moved on and will play for the Victoria Park Reds, most certainly a big loss for the Saints

There is a chance that Premiership star, cool hand Gary Caffell will also stay in the Country, not yet certain but would a huge huge loss to the Saints if he stays at home for season 2011 -12

FACT
More from Stirling, apparently it is a done deal, Matt Ellul is now a Stirling Ranger, we would have to say this is the recruiting coup of new season.
Matt Ellul is a proven performer in the Premier League with a great set of statistics from two different Clubs to back past efforts.

Word getting around the Clubs is Stirling recruiting has not finished as yet and still have a couple of good players ready to sign.

So is there any truth to earlier rumours that Wanneroo skip Stein Davies could be one of these players as yet unidentified players. Well we dont know the answer to that question but if he does sign up he would be handy for the Rangers, also no truth that he would change his name to Steinich Davisevic if he does play for Stirling
The landscape is changing at Stirling and one would ponder as to what will happen to Mark Krajancic, at his top he is a gun player but has not been the same player since a back operation which has hampered his game. so we will wait and see what transpires

RUMOUR
The big rumour getting around the place is Matt Ellul will be playing for Stirling this season.
If the rumour is correct then it must give Stirling an edge they were missing last season. If Premier League play with three rinks instead of 4 rinks it does change the landscape somewhat for Stirling who were definiteltly one Skip short. You would think it would make them contenders rather than pretenders.

Of course Mosman, who made it to the preliminary final will have a strong side regardless with Steve Withers, Daniel Brown and Robbie Tiller taking the skipper roles, however we would say Matt Ellul would always be first picked as a skip at Mosman and will be missed.

More on Cambridge, We have had it passed onto us that Kardinya player Brad Ball will play for Cambridge this season. We have nothing to go on with this rumour other than it was passed onto me. So for now that is all it is, a rumour

FACT
Cambridge will lose John Trewhella and son Matty, they have decided to play for the Warnbro Wizards next season which is very close to home and will save a lot of travel.
Both players have given great service to the Cambridge Knights and will be sorely missed. The rink they played for has a record that speaks for itself , the side was a very hard rink to knock over losing just 6 games for the season which is a great performance.

This is a big loss for the Knights after losing David Opie and Trystan Smallacombe and that combined with another possible loss we have been hearing, but havent confirmed is State Skip Jon Sharp will not be in a Cambridge shirt next season and will play in Albany tho we are not sure of this info regarding Jon.

The Wizards will be delighted to have both Matty and John Trewhella back at the Club and we might see a possible promotion with the addition of these two very good players to the lineup.

RUMOUR
Wanneroo look like they may recruit a Yokine skipper Tony Kay for the coming season. We do know that Tony was seen in the Club in the last couple of days.

Such a move could hurt Yokine who have been demoted to One White for next season when coupled with the possible loss of Rick Eddy who will live in Mandurah and young Matty Francis who is also rumoured to become a Bedford Bull next season.

Also with Premier League downsizing to three rinks, one might ask where will Tony fit into the side if the majority of players stay at Wanneroo.

Of course we are not suggesting he couldn't crack a game at Wanneroo because he has shown often he is a very good player in the skippering dept when at he is at the top of his game.

FACT
It was originally thought Mosman Pk had some chance to gain the services of Osborne Pk player Paul Butler instead it is Victoria Pk who have won the race to gain his signature and recruit Paul Butler to the Club for season 2011/12. The reason for his departure from reigning Premiers Osborne Pk is to play with son Blake.
It will be a huge loss for the Saints to see a player of Paul Butler's ability depart and even more so after not only playing a big part to help the Saints make it to the finals but the outstanding game he presented in the Grand Final to defeat Vic Park.........
Players with drawshot ability such a Paul Butler don't grow on trees and we would have to say Victoria Park are indeed fortunate to have this player join their ranks.

May 16, 2011
FACT
Scarborough Seagulls will be a much stronger Club with the recruitment of former Wanneroo player Mike Murray who is returning to play with his previous club.

With both Tim who signed up a couple of weeks back and now Mike Murray playing for their former Club it would not be a surprise to see for the Seagulls back into first division very quickly, especially if three rinks is going to be the new format in 2013/14.

The Seagulls were once a powerhouse in Premier League lost their 1st division status a couple of years back could once again become a force in the bowling world, they have 42 new players on the books and I am sure that Tim and Mike will play a big part in the Gulls revival

May 11, 2011
What will Steady Rick Eddy be doing next season? After doing a great job for those Yokine Doggies when he took over a skippers role about halfway thru the season we have since heard the likeable and easy going Rick is of to live in Australia's fastest growing City, Mandurah.

Will he play for one of the local Mandurah Clubs or can he be tempted drive up to Perth play for the Doggies in the One White division next season?

Must be a 50-50 decision for him one might tend to think. He will be a loss to the Doggies if he decides to stay put in his new digs at Mandurah and of course all Mandurah Clubs would love to have a gentleman such a Rick to join them.

Not only Yokine Doggies but the Bowling World in general waits in anticipation to see what direction the steady one will be driving his car next season

RUMOUR
More on Gary Carberry on what appeared to be an emerging story, we published that Carbs was rumoured to be looking at playing for Sth Perth, HHHmmmm WRONG, then we heard that Manning who are making a big push to play Premier League were in with a chance to secure the services of the well credentialled Carbs, well this is what was and is being talked about in the world of Lawn Bowls. Apparently it is all wrong and God only knows where this scuttlebutt comes from.
So to put the correct story out there this is what we have been made aware of by David Farley.......

After an outstanding season for the Kwinana Klippers, they made it to first division for the first time in their history of over fifty years.

With star player Gary Carberry, They will be looking to pick up a few more high quality players to ensure the strength and development of a number of rising young talents at the club.

Well done Klippers and after a season like that, why would Carbs want to play anywhere else other than with the emerging Kwinana Klippers Club? We should have known better......

FACT
Wayne Heldt will play for Manning One White this coming season after playing the past season for the Kalamunda Tigers.
He has chosen to move, not because of any falling out reasons with kalamunda but for family reasons.
Due to his scare a few months back, he is chosing to spend some more time with the family, and a bonus for him is wife Susan and daughter Shenayde playat Manning.

May 2, 2011
One big big rumour going round town is where will Osborne Park Saints Paul Butler play this coming season?, that is the big question on three clubs lips at the moment.

Premiership winners Osborne Park would be hoping Paul Butler will be staying with them, he is such a valued player and confirmed that status playing a huge part as 3rd to Wings Evans during the season helping the Club make the finals
His Grand Final performance was pure magic, without it Vic Park would surely have won the final.

Mosman Park are high on the list and have a been mentioned as a possible Club and from what we have heard he is over the line to play for them, remembering of course that it is only a rumour but that is what is being talked about around town. It would be hard to knock back an offer to play at a Club with such a magnificent view and a terrific playing list

Vic Park is another Club that have been mentioned as a possible home next season.
Paul's son Blake transfrerred from OP in the middle of last season and it could be reasonable to think Paul would like to play with him.
The Reds would welcome a player of Paul Butler's ability with open arms as would any Premier League Club.

Well we wait and see what eventuates from here

May 1, 2011
Another name we are hearing crop up in conversations is that of Kalamunda player Wayne Heldt, some are indicating he is bound for Manning while others have him linked to Bedford, we will have to wait and see what eventuates with Wayne

May 1, 2011
Scott Walker is a name that bowlers are talking about at the moment, the word is he could be returning to play at his former Club Sth Perth. O f course we do not know that this will occur but it is a rumour that has been getting around the traps.

April 29, 2011
Rumours have been a bit quite lately, we have heard a few but hard to believe. Some are goodies if they come off but overall things could be in holding mode waiting till there is clarifacation about 3 rinks or 4 rinks for Premier League

April 29, 2011
One that have been talked about in the bowling world is Mike Nilson, the Yokine skip who pushed the great Steve Glasson all the way in the Sorrento Master Singles might be on the move.
He is a pretty handy player who can play the backend positions with some clout, one Club that seems to be getting the most mentions is the Sth Perth Millers.

They sure could do with a player of Mike Nilson's ability particularly since the departure of gun 3rd Frank Carbone. Other Clubs mentioned regarding Mike have been Stirling and Osborne Park at the end of the season. Of course these are just rumours and what is being bandied around, we can't verify they are correct.

Tim Murray after a two year stint at Wanneroo has returned to Scarborough who field a second division side, The move back to the Seagulls now will give him the opportunity to play with his Brother Steve who has taken up the game around 6/9 months ago.

April 17, 2011
More news from Sth Perth, we have heard that Frank Carbone is definitely on the move, where to we do not know. Frank has resigned from Sth Perth..

This is a major blow for the Millers, to lose a player of this calibre considering the club didn't enjoy a lot of success last season. Frank Carbone is one of the better 3rds in Premier League and would have no trouble to get a game at any PL Club.

We will wait and see what develops with Frank and where he might play next season

April 17, 2011
CORRECTION
We have since found after we posted the article concerning Trystan Smallacombe that Trystan will continue to keep playing in the same major events he have played in years gone by but won't be playing Saturday pennants, he plans on playing Thursday pennants instead of Saturdays.

After 24 yrs of committing every Saturday in summer to 15 other guys, it's time they were spent with his young bloke before he becomes too cool to hang out with Dad.
As we did say family is far more important than any game of Lawn Bowls

April 15, 2011
Another rumour to be doing the rounds is Gary Carberry a former DV player who played for the Kwinana Klippers last season and won promotion to One Blue this year might be looking to play in the Premier League, One club mentioned was the Sth Perth Millers.
Maybe this rumour is not true but this is what this page is all about, rumours.
It would be a very good recruiting coup if the Millers were able to lure the talented Carbs into their ranks.

April 15, 2011
One passed on to me was Doubleview's Matt Mitchell could be lining up in a Manning Eagles shirt this year. Seems a strange one but if the rumour is true then a good player to get for Manning.
Matt as we all know won a trip to play in the Professional World Bowls finals in the U.K earlier this year.
Of course this is only a rumour at this stage and have not been able to verify it.

April 14, 2011
RUMOUR
One that has been getting around the place is champion Cambridge player Trystan Smallacombe may take a 12 month break from the game to spend more time with his young family.
Family is always well ahead of anything else in life. If the info is correct lets hope Trystan recharges the batteries comes back refreshed and ready for action because at his top he is as good as they come.
Trystan has been a marvellous player for the Knights over a long period of time, if what we are hearing is true then is is sad news indeed for the Knights.
Trystan Smallacombe missed out on a place in the State side for the first time this season since 2004, many good judges would have included him in the side and toward the end of last season he relinquished his skippers berth after several outstanding seasons to play a major part playing 3rd in the defeat of Doubleview in the 2nd last round.

April 13, 2011
Word flying around the Clubs is young Bedford Bull Cody Packer is set to join the Reds next season. Of course this is only a rumour and is not necessarily set in stone.
The young Packer fresh off an outstanding series in Nelson Bay has been told if he wants to remain in the State side he will have to play Premier League next season

That leaves the Bulls short changed if it is true. However what a pickup for the Reds if the rumour has legs

April 13, 2011
FACT
The talk around bowling Clubs is Wanneroo could lose a few. We know of two for that won't be at the Club next season, Tim and Mike Murray, it is unclear where or what both players are doing next season.
It is possible David Von Horn could be lost to the Club due to the vast distance he has to travel to play for the Express each weekend.
There are others who have been mentioned that might not start next season at Wanneroo but still up in the air at the moment.

April 13, 2011
AT THIS STAGE A RUMOUR ONLY
heard a strong rumour that Bayswater Bowling Club is to amalgamate with Bedford, and that the local council has shown keen interest in rationalizing bowls venues in that district, and that Bedford will be the main beneficiaries with plans to upgrade facilities there. So, the Bulls could be roaring once again in the not-too-distant future.

FACT
April 10, 2011
We have been told by Bunbury player Darren Kellond that he will play at Victoria Park next season. If that is what eventuates next season then the Reds are on a winner. Darren has shown he is a class act when playing as a second was runner up to Rooster Wishart in the 2010 State Triples. In that game they had control over the last 6 ends only to see Rooster destroy their hopes of winning that game

No doubt this performance has impressed the VP think tank who we believe have a few more good players in their sights
