Fine condition today at the Yokine Bowling club. The greens were in absolutely tip top condition and all players were singing the praises of greenkeeper and his staff for having such quality greens to play on. Yokine are right up there when it comes to good grass

Two magnificent teams to contest for the State Fours title for 2010

FINAL

It was pity that the game was played in the middle of the green while there was two games of Triples on either side. That made it hard to concentrate on the Fours when we had a birds eye view right in front of us in the Triples semi final game between Brian Axford and Graeme Wishart

However what I was able to take in watching the game was the incredibly high standard of this contest. It was no ordinary good game it was far far better than that.
The score was close up till 9-9 on seven ends, that is when I arrived. From here AP and his side were having just slightly the better of the play but had to withstand the Mosman rink coming back with brilliant bowls. The score was 13-12.
On end 14 AP led 20-13, 21-14, 22-14, 26-22 and finally 27-22.

The impressive thing about the game was the ultra competiveness and skill of players
Mark Simpson and Jarrad Rainoldi were so good and set the tone of the game, Thomas Mitchell was busy busy with many fine bowls in tight heads, Dale Marsland played a beauty and would have made his skip happy. Rhett Butler was on song with a powerful game as was Stve Withers who was so good. As was said previously the standard was so high.
Both Skips were sensational but probably AP had the edge slightly over Matt Ellul who played without luck after being so close to what he wanted to achieve.

The last end was a ripper the score was 26-22 AP down 5 with a bowl to play cut it down to 2 or 3. One bowl to go for Matt Ellul, he went for the bowl or the Jack but killed the end

A picture below shows how hard the players went in search of victory in what was the last end of the State Fours. Mark Simpsons bowl stayed for shot for the duration of the last end
