L. Strahan (sk), C. Adams, G. Ellis, P. Potts, Comp -------- -----29
This event saw the return of Anthony Provost, he showed that he is a player of rare talent and without doubt the main reason his side won this event.
Those that attended the final of the State Fours were treated to a fabulous game of bowls. For skill, excitement and a close game this was the game.
The final scores were indeed high, there were three 7's and a 6 scored in the game. We saw that Lance's rink was going to win in a canter, then we saw a great fightback from Anthony's rink, again we saw Lance get away to what appeared to be a match winning lead late in the game only to see the skill of Anthony Provost come to the fore.
A.P's rink won the first end and the following end saw Lance Pick up 7 shots, all drawn. From there on A.P and the rink clawed their way back into the game to be 8/10 down. Then another 7 scored by Lance saw the score blow out to 17/8 and increased to be 20/8 on the completion of the 9th end. Lance and his boys were pinpoint, out drawing ultra close bowls by A.P rink.
The standard of this game was extremely high with outstanding heads the order of the day.Things began to change. The scoreline was 21/10, 21
/12., 21/14. Then A.P played a bomb to move the jack about a yard back to pick up 7 shots and level the scores @ 21/21..
A.P hit the front to lead 23/21 then things went pearshape and we saw his rink 29/23 down with 2 ends to play only to see his rink pick up a 6 to level the scores at 29/29 at the completion of end 20.
On the crossover of the last end A.P was down and converted to make it 1 up.
Lance was unable to make any change to the head and We now have a new State Championship four.
How I saw the battle in the positions, Leader Daniel Patterson was outstanding in his duel with Phil Potts and took the honours with a game that played a huge part in his sides win. Young Daniel would have been delighted with his game.
Phil Potts was also very competitive and produced many winning ends in this fiercly contested high standard leaders duel but was shaded by Daniel
Geoff Ellis played a superb game as the second and won his position and was his sides best player, he has the task of countering the great leading bowls provided by Daniel Patterson and did so on many occasions.
Boomer Gearing did some fine things at critcal times particularly near the end of the game.
Clive Adams played a terrific game for the first 16 ends and faded out of the game over the last 4/5 ends, his contribution was outstanding in this game.
Shane Knott did many fine things and made a positive contribution to the cause.
Lance Strahan played a huge game but he would be cross with himself for falling short when 6 down on the 20th end, Other than that he only confirmed what we all know and that is he is a top class skipper.
Anthony Provost has exploded back onto the bowling scene with an outstanding display of bowls where he saved the day for his rink often with sheer class.
Congratulations to all players for the game they provided today and it is games like this that will always get people to attend

SEMI-FINALS
A.Provost (sk) S. Knott, B. Gearing, D.Patterson-----------------22
D.Trewhella (SK) D. Brown, J.Jaworski, G. Wishart COMP.......17
This game represented a challenge of huge proportions to Anthony Provost and his rink, Could they slay the dragon? Daniel Trewhella was in tip top form and it seemed that nothing was impossible for him to acheive with the skills he possess's.
They were the favourites to win this event and it would take a mighty big effort to defeat the rink. Anthony Provost was the shining light and it was he who kept his side on track to hold their nerve and guide them to victory
A. P and his rink got away to flying start to lead 11/1 after the 6th end and then had to withstand a classic comeback from Daniel Trewhella where his rink hit the front to lead 15/14 on the 16th end. It was from here that Daniel Patterson got on top of Rooster Wishart who faded from the contest in the last 5 ends. With Daniel Patterson leading so well it put his rink back in control of the game and they withstood the great bowls presented by Daniel Brown and Daniel Trewhella to run out winners 22/17.
L. Strahan (sk), C. AdamsG. Ellis, P. Potts, Comp --------------22
M.Kurta (sk) G.Carberry, S. Srhoy J. Galipo Cockburn ...........13
This was all one way traffic as a spectacle with Phil Potts and Geoff Ellis each playing a superb game to put the Cockburn rink under the pump. The Wanneroo Wizard was on fire as was Lance Stahan to complete the shutdown of Matt Kurta and his rink to run out easy winners in a winner take all contest. The score at the start of the 17th end was 22/5 to underline their superiority in this agme
The list below is how they will line up tomorrow at Morley Bowling club
