CLIVE ADAMS def PIETER HARRIS 25/20

Clive Adams has Pieter Harris in pose that says it all at the conclusion of the game when he won the State Singles final in an entertaining game at Mt Lawley this afternoon
......The man and the moment Pieter Harris on bended knee congrulates Clive Adams
---------------------The grey Bowl wins the measure and the title for Clive Aadms

A very interesting game between two great friends, Clive Adams has been a runner up in this event to the great Jeff Hall about 6/7 years ago. Pieter Harris has never won a State Singles title.

Both were no strangers to Mt Lawley grass, Clive a r/u in 2009 and a winner in 2010 in the Mt Lawley Consistency Singles. Pieter was a r/u in 2006 in the best final I have seen since watching these games.

The stage was set for an intrigueing contest, both were easy winners in the semi-finals.

It was a bit breezy, the wind was fishtailing a little with it gusting as well, Clive led 4-2 on the 4th end and was never headed again throughout the match.

On the 8th end it was here that Clive started to establish that he was playing better that Pieter, just so consistent on the draw, Pieter was finding the wind a problen and his weight was not right too often, you could see he was not confident and resorted to the drive to try and contain Clive's constant draw.

The score was 13-6 on the 13th end and I remembered that Clive had led Jeff Hall 13-5 when he was runner up to Jeff in the 2004 final, was history about to repeat itself,

It was on the 13th end that a change came over the game when Pieter drove the Jack in the ditch, a welcome relief it was because his driving was also astray and to finally get one, just what the doctor orderd. On winning the end he changed the length and bingo he suddenly found his draw form.

However it was always Clive with his consistent draw game. The game continued on with Pieter clawing the margin back to be 19-22 down and a bit of a chance from here but not to be. Clive rising to every challenge that was thrown at him to win 25-20 and a most deserving winner.

Clive Adams has established himself as W.A's most consistent Singles player, this win is further conformation of that status
The way he handled every challenge in such hard conditions, his consistent draw under pressure was his greatest strength. Well done to Clive Adams to win his first State Singles title .

Pieter Harris will agree he was just not quite up to the challenge he faced against Clive but none the less played a marvelous never say die game. It is good to see him back and up and about, maybe his turn to win the biggest of them all, the State Singles is not that far away.

Same for Scott Edmonds, he will always remember that he put AP out of the event winning 21-17.
