LADIES MOUNT LAWLEY CONSISTENCY SINGLES 2009
FINAL FRIDAY 2/10/2009
---------------------L/R: NOLENE ABE AND MAI NORRIS

-
A great game of bowls from both ladies, Nolene Abe coming out on top after 4 days of bowls in the 2009 Mt Lawley Ladies Consistency Singles. Mai Norriss being runner up
Nolene is a State skip and has many credits to her name and is clearly
one of the best players here in the West. Nolene had to beat some goodies along the way and I guess that Helen Morss who is about as good as they come, was beaten by Nolene in the semi-final.
Helen was the overwhelming favourite for this event
Mai Norris has been sort of around the place and has steadily improved game since she started about 6/7 years ago. In her early days Mai pushed Lee Poletti very hard to lose by a shot or two and was an early sign that good things lay in store for Mai. Coming runner up in such a quality field of Ladies is a great acheivement by Mai who seems certain to win a big event in the not too distant future
There was nothing in the game up till around 65/65, that is when Nolene got a small break away from Mai and was able to maintain that break till the last end when the score was 115/105, in a terrific last end Mai played a bomb of a bowl to take two of Nolene's bowls out and was holding 8/2 but Nolene showing the stamp a a champion converted with impossibly good weight to push Mai's bowl out by a foot and that was the end of the game

NOLENE ABE 103 bt HELEN MORSS 97
Helen Morss was going great guns in this event and has only just missed out after losing a tight semi final game against Nolene Abe.
Helen is always there abouts in what ever she plays in and we can expect to see the name Helen Morss figure prominently in future events
MAI NORRIS 102 bt KERRY ANDERSEN 88
The semi final saw Mai Norris defeat last years winner Kerry Andersen 102- 88.
This result might have surprised some but the word is that Mai Norriss played a ripper of a game to hold Kerry out, again what a terrific victory for Mai and well done to Kerry to be so close to acheiving back to back wins in this event
