A huge game between W.A and Victoria going right to the wire, it was close all the way and at times the standard of play was outstanding . W.A a little unlucky not to win but we have to give the Vics a lot of credit for the game they played, side by side they stuck together to uphold the .... oh oh sorry just thinking of the Collingwood win on Saturday.
There was some controversy in the game between Ian Ross and Prickles Thorn. The players walked off the green and went inside only to find they had only played 20 ends. So out they went to play the 21st end, the score 17-16 in favour of Prickles Thorn.
The 3rd Geoff White plonked two bowls right onto the jack, both touchers and seemingly a victory coming up for the W.A rink. Ian Ross who is a wonderful player with big match temperament drove at the head to remove the bowls and missed with his first.
He sent down the last of his two bowls in this rink clash and cleaned out both bowls that were touching the jack, they went out of play and the jack quite remarkably didnt move. That shot gave him 4 shots and victory to Ian Ross and his rink.
Wings Evans rink had a tough game all the way down to the wire
after leading Morrissey 10-5 after 9 ends had been completed. From there on Morrissey and his team slowly but surely whittled the lead back to 14- 15 down on the 16th end and in with a big chance to win the game which in due course they did 20-17. It was a hard tough slog for both sides
The game I watched for the most part was beauty between Tony Krajancic and B. Close, and let me tell you the Victorian Skip is aptly named, he did a great job to keep Tony and the team in check with some brilliant saves when heaps down.
Colin O`Brien played a beauty in the lead position
Colin O`Brien played a very good leaders game to give W.A the edge in this dept. He has a very good backup with Ted Alden taking Roger Barns place. Ted played many fine bowls for the side to continually keep the pressure on the Vics. The Mailman Geoff Ellis was just about the pick of the West Aussies with an outstanding display of draw bowling while the Kracker Tony Krajancic played a very effective game.
There was never much in the game for most of the journey but the man who held the Vics in the contest was Barry Close with some telling bowls that he played at various times. Often W.A would have 3 0r 4 very close bowls then in would come Barry with a draw shot which was hard for Tony to get out. All in all it was a great game to watch with Tony getting home to be W.A 's only winner, a credit to all players.

West Australia played the NT in the first game this morning, a team that contained several W.A players filling in to make up the side. W.A had a comfortable win on the scoreboard which shows a 20 shot win, the win was not without some drama initially because the Prickles Thorn led rink were 10-3 down and not going well when they turned on the power and started to click and went from that score to lead 19-10 and finally won 19-16.
Wings Evans and Tony Krajancic led rinks were both in control to ensure the victory.
Talking with a couple of the W.A player who represented the NT after the game both said they had played much better against W.A than the Qld team.
