--R:-L/R: N.Waite, G. Matheson, T. Rawlings, R. Morrissey best performed Victorian rink
-----
This rink was on track to win the Best rink of the series, in anticipation I took this snap only to find later the Queensland rink of N. Jenkins finished on top after his win against Prickles Thorn in the last game of the series.
A very happy Victorian 12 pictured here after their title win
in the Seniors Interstate series

----
Victoria today won the Over 60's Interstate sides series when they won their last game defeating the Northern Territory. That win was on edge when I arrived at the game to see the NT leading the Vics 35-24 on the 38th end, was this going to be the boilover of all
all boilovers? No not so, Victoria stepped on the gas and the score went from 24-35 down to 48-36 up and from there it was more and more of Victoria to go away with a 63-48 win.
We must congratulate the team on this brilliant win where in the process of becoming the new title holders they
smashed the biggest State N.S.W, fell across the line against W.A due to a brilliant drive from Ian Ross. Crushed the ACT who had performed so well early in the series.
The Vics then rolled Qld who were the reigning title holders, and did the job against the NT who had them on the hop for more than half the game. We have to give the bottom team Tasmania a huge credit, they were the only side to test the strength of Victoria when they drew the first game of the series.
N.S.W were slow to start going down to Qld and Victoria in their two opening rounds, from there they won all their games
Qld, last years winners started brilliantly winning by monster scores over the two bottom sides but fell in a hole
when they met sterner opposition.
The hometown favourites W.A started badly when beaten by the A.C.T in the openng game, there were too many players way below their best form. The next game saw a win against the NT but lets be honest it was not an impressive win but at the end of the day a win is a win and it would have given the side a chance to settle down and get better feel for the bigger games ahead.
The loss to Victoria was full of merit and the way the side went down was sad for us all but as we often say "that's Lawn Bowls for you". When you consider that W.A played to that standard against the side that won it makes one think we should have done better than the 3 wins we had.
The win against Tasmania was huge but not one to take a lot of notice of (yes we know Tassy drew With the Vics)
The acid test was against N.S.W, a game that would tell us more about the W.A team. Must say what I saw was pretty high class from both teams but N.S.W always provided the answer with quality bowls, nothing was too hard for them to achieve when they were under the pump.
Prickles Thorn rink were holding sway against Linton's rink up till the 13th end where the score was 9-13 down, Prickles never scored again and lost 9-24, there were some brilliant ends in the period from 13 to 21 ends but no matter what, N.S.W always provided the answer to keep Prickles scoreless.
Wings Evans also was holding sway at 11-14 down on the 14th end but the rink succumbed to NSW power to lose 15-22.
Tony Krajancic held a good lead 19-12 on the 15th end and we would never have suspected the game would be lost from there,
but lose they did, 21-24, tho we must say it was a high class game.
A good result against Qld and a nice way to finish the series, didn't see much of the game
so that is it for W.A
I guess the selectors will go thru the team with a fine tooth comb then scour the State from way down South to the very far North looking to find a stronger side for the next series.
A special mention for the Northern Territory, they were not able to bring a full side to the series, it was their first time to play in the Over 60's. So W.A provided some fine players to help fill the team, Rance Dewson, Geoff Gunning, Brian Jepperson, Colin Fleay, John McElroy and the best lefthander of them all Glyn Vaughan.
The team didn't get away to a great start but gradually found their way thru the heavy traffic that was in front of them to get up and record two wins and push the winners Victoria most of the way to give a good account of themselves.
ACT started out well beating W.A which was a surprise to most, Just got hold of Tasmania then beat the mighty NSW side, things were looking good, we looked forward to when they met Qld but everything just collapsed for them when they were crunched by Vic, Qld and the NT
