ONE WHITE REVIEW ROUND FOURTEEN
February 27, 2006
Innaloo v Gosnells
Not much to say about this match up but easy, easy, easy
for Gosnells. Innaloo were never going to be a threat in this game and as expected
the 8 points went
to Gosnells and all Innaloo can look forward to is 5.00pm on Saturday April
1st when the curtain falls on their season. Who knows what the future of our
great sport holds for the Innaloo club? Big match for Gosnells next round when
they host trend setters Kalamunda and Innaloo travel to Kardinya in a bid to
trouble the statisticians for the first time this season.
Kalamunda v North Beach
The Beach Boys had huge expectations when they travelled up the hill on Saturday
but failed to deliver.
The Kalamunda lads played steady bowls to record a fine
30 shot victory and secure their spot at the top of the table. It looks to
me now a race in 3 to secure top spot and we all know that possession is nine
tenths of the law and the boys from the hills are not about to relinquish this
possession.
Super game in round 15 when Payney, Rowdy, Tricky Ricky and Big
Bad Bustling Billy take their troops to Gosnells for the match of the round.
North Beach will host Scarborough in the local derby of coastal sides.
Morley v Kardinya
Morley, Morley, Morley, Oi, Oi, Oi, Morley,
Oi, Morley, Oi, Morley, Morley, Morley, Oi, Oi, Oi. I can nearly hear the chant
in just over a month’s
time on grand final day.
The blue collar boys have turned their season right
around and are on track for a top 2 finish. Eight zip against Kardinya was
just the right tonic for the Morley lads to retain 2nd spot and plan their
assault for 4 wins in the last 4 rounds to finish on top of the wozza and start
recruiting some of the Yokine and Victoria Park players that will be up for
grabs.
I expect Morley to get over the line when they go to the Raven’s
nest in round 15 and Kardinya may find themselves back in the 4 when they host
Innaloo.
Safety Bay v Thornlie
Safety Bay continues to “slip under the radar”. I didn’t
give them much hope at the start of the season but they just keep on keeping
on and persist in hovering around the top 4.
A tradesman like performance defeating
Thornlie sets up the boys from down south with a realistic chance of gaining
promotion to 1 Red. With experienced skippers like Graham Scott, Matt Massari,
Alan Holmes and John Biglin anything is possible as crunch time approaches.
Thornlie must be disappointed with 2005/2006 considering the wealth of talent
at their disposal. Safety Bay should account for Warwick in round 15 whereas
the Raven’s will find the going tough when they host Morley.
Warwick v Scarborough
The Magpies just won’t lie down. After a sensational start to the season
Warwick slumped but is now providing nuisance value to those around them. In
my view picking up 6 points against Scarborough was huge and with possibly
a few more upsets in store Warwick may just sneak into the 4.
It should be
noted that star Warwick skipper John Mather has only recorded 3 victories from
13 outings this season. Just imagine what could have been if this stalwart
had been firing.
Scarborough now joins North Beach on my list of the “great
pretenders”. Warwick may cause another upset when they travel to Safety
Bay on March 11th and Scarborough’s season will be over when North Beach
takes the points from them in round 15.
