FINAL ONE BLUE NORTH REPORT 2008/09

APRIL 6, 2009

Well bowlers we are done and dusted for another year, congratulations to the ONE BLUE PENNANT WINNERS … KARDINYA … apparently the only tip I got right all weekend according to some picky bloke from CAMBRIDGE WHO WERE THE WINNERS OF A PROMOTION TO WHITE next year, congratulations to them too .

I have no details from those games other than Kardinya won by 4 shots and Cambridge won by 8 shots .

In the final series the first semi final elimination game was between Warwick and South Perth which Warwick won 80 to 68, funny enough I tipped that one too !!

The rink skipped by Warwick's Howitson with Sheppard, Wyatt and Laidlaw beat Sth Perth's big Kev Howieson's rink by 9 shots to set up the win for the Magpies supported by John Mathers 5 shot win over Rees for South Perth and Vince Guiffre's rink won by one shot over Max Petrich to shut out the gallant Millers season.

The second semi
Knights 76 beat Sorrento 68

Bruce Edwards has been all plus for the Cambridge Knights this season, A top class skip with great results

The Dave Irvin skipped rink of Chirs McKenna, Griffiths and Harold Christenson done a big number on John Brown for Sorrento winning by 9 shots together with a 3 shot win for Brian Edwards over Jeb Shorland was just too much for the Sorrento boys to cover and Cambridge progressed to the final which they subsequently won .

The preliminary final
was a 22 shot blow out for Sorrento with a big win for Jeb Shorland by 27 shots which turned out to be the difference between these two sides and Sorrento would have gone into the final playoff with some renewed confidence but it was not to be as they lost the final to a determined Cambridge Knights team .

This will be my final report for the year and it was my first attempt at sports writing I hope it provided some interest and discussion.
I would like to thank Sherro for his tireless work on the site and wish all bowlers a safe off season and look forward to crossing paths next year .

Remember there are plenty of bowls to be played in the off season stay tuned to the site for info as games become available .

Kind regards
